Top 3 Resolutions with a Careers Twist
New Year is traditionally a time for meeting friends, raising a glass or two, reflecting on the year past and thinking about the future. The start to a new academic year is no different, so why not adopt the resolution idea here too? We’ve looked at the top 3 resolutions and given them a careers twist for you.
Get match fit and your kit in order for the competitive ‘Job Hunt’. Sign up for our training sessions – The How to Handle Series (Careers Fair, Psychometric tests, LinkedIn…) and The Successful Series (CVs, Interviews, Networking…) at CareerHub. Need some coaching? Drop in for an informal chat, book a CV review, a guidance appointment (general careers advice), a taking action appointment (help with a specific application) or even sign up for some 1 -2 -1 Mentoring with an external mentor who might have just the right experience to help.
Follow your Dream
Always wanted to be your own boss? Don’t just talk the talk; walk the walk and make it happen with help from Essex StartUps. We can support you every step of the way with mini Bootcamps (covering anything and everything you need to know), networking events and even pitching opportunities to win funding for your idea.
Achieve a Better Work / Life Balance
Studying all the time (or ‘living’ all the time!) make a change this year and get involved with the other opportunities that campus life offers. From volunteering, being a Student Ambassador, a Peer Mentor to getting work experience (and being paid for it!) through our Frontrunners and Essex Intern schemes. Best of all, sign up to the Big Essex Award and get these extra curricular activities recognised by the University and onto your HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Report – a more comprehensive record of student achievement that is replacing the transcript this year).
Happy New (Academic) Year and welcome back!
We missed you but hope to see you soon.
