I’m Katie and I’m the Mentoring Coordinator for our Career Mentoring Programme at the University of Essex. Try saying that three times fast!
I love being at Essex: I love the buzz on campus in Autumn, the quiet study times, the green spaces and my personal favourite feature, Campus Cat. I love the international nature and the fact that I can meet loads of interesting people and try amazing new food like Pandan Coconut Crepes (the Malaysian Society), Banana Curry (Essex Food) and Taro Bubble Tea (totally addictive, thank you SU Pop-Up Shop and the start-up team who made it happen!).
Our Career Mentoring Programme is here to help you develop your career and fast-track you to achieve your goals – whatever your career query. And that’s what I’m really passionate about: helping you recognise your potential to go as far as you can dream. That’s why I love running our career mentoring scheme, because I get to facilitate lots of connections between you guys and our mentors which helps lots of you to progress your career further and faster!
So whether you know exactly what you want to do and want help building your professional network, have no idea what you want to do after your studies, want to find out about writing successful sector applications or more, drop in to the Employability & Careers Centre and speak to me to find out how the programme can help you!
In my blog posts I’ll be sharing thoughts on how you can make the most of your time here and boost your confidence. Hope you enjoy them!
